Awards and Nominations- Teen Choice Award for his role as Clark in 2002. He won the title of ‘Teen Breakout Star (male).
Personal Life- Tom has lived in different parts of America, due to his Father’s job as General Motors executive. Finally he landed in Michigan. He was good in sports like Baseball, Basketball and Soccer. Later on he worked in construction too. In 2002 Tom married his long time girlfriend Jamie after four year long relationship. At present they are living in Los Angeles, but Tom spends most of his time in filming of Small Ville in Vancouver.
Career Credits- Do you know, how he shifted to acting from construction line. He attended a party in Nantucket in 1998 and a catalogue Camera scout got impressed of his looks and suggested him to go for modeling. So in 2000, he moved to Los Angeles and did modeling for print ad campaigns, commercials and music videos. Finally he got a break in Judging Amy as Rob Meltzer, Amy’s love interest. In 2003 he acted in a movie ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ and in its second part in 2005. He also worked in ‘The fog’ movie remake. In 2006, Tom tried his hand in direction, as he directed Smallville episodes ‘Fragile’, Hydro and Apocalypse. He has also played the roles of Bizarro and Jr-El in the same show.
In Clark’s role- Tom was selected as Clark after worldwide search for this role. Pilot episode was aired in October 2001 and became a big hit with 8.4 Million viewers. He is playing the lead role of a boy who grows up gradually into Superman. He works as a reporter in a newspaper ‘Daily Planet’ as this profession makes it convenient to keep his actual identity concealed and to help the people whenever they need him. It is shown in the series that when he was retrieved from a rocket then his parents left him in Smallville orphanage and later on formally adopted him.
Upcoming Projects- Tom Welling has been signed for the eighth season of SmallVille in 2007 and filming is on.
