Awards and Nominations- She got nominated along with her husband Michael McKean for the Academy Award for Best Song for ‘A Kiss at the end of a Rainbow’, a love duet that they had written for the movie ‘A Mighty Wind’.
Recent Appearance- On July 7, 2007, O’Toole appeared as a backing singer for her husband’s fictional band Spinal Tap at the London leg of the Live Earth concerts.
Personal Life- She is a popular American actress and dancer. She is married to an actor Michael McKean since 1999. They guest starred together in law and Order as a wealthy couple accused for murder in one episode. She has two daughters from her former wedding with Bill Geisslinger.
Career Credits- She started her career at very young age in guest roles in 1955 for the series ‘Gun Smoke’. She also guest starred on other shows of 60s too. Her first major role was in 70s as Robby Benson’s tutor girlfriend in ‘One on One’. She played Spiderman’s girl friend Lana Lang in Spiderman-lll movie in 1983. Then in 2001 she got this role as Martha Kent in Smallville totally opposite to her role in Spiderman Movie. She played this role until Season six finale.
Martha’a Role- Toole is playing Clark’s adoptive mother in Smallville. She gives advices and supports Clark in dealing with his growing powers. She is a bit sympathetic towards Lex as a child who misses his mother and because he lost his hair due to Clark. In season six she is doing a job as US Senator in Washington DC. When she was offered this role she was busy with the series The Huntress, but when the show got cancelled she nodded to work in Smallville.
